Soundcheck at the Cheripintera
Here we see Lorb Lorbson going through the work that it takes to make magic happen on stage. Lorb and Jon the soundman work together to get the perfect sound. I think you’ll agree that this is a priceless look behind the scenes.

Jon is one of the best in the business. He’s part of why the Cheripintera is so legendary.

I used to be Lorb’s drummer back in the day and I always thought that soundman at the Cheripintera was a dick.

I was at that performance. So emotional. Many of us had tears streaming down. Very healing. Lorb Lorbson is Lord of song.

It was a days drive for us and when we arrived the afternoon of the performance, the sign in the box office window of the Cheripintera read: Lorb Lorbson Sold Out! After a couple of hours my finger cramped (from holding it in the air) with no “miracle” insight we were forced to turn around and drive home with only our imaginations to turn too…Grateful does not begin to capture the feeling I have swelling inside me having found this intimate video from soundcheck. Thanks is really all I can say.

I first saw Lorb, a child prodigy, at Woodstock. You could tell he had a bright future back then. It was weird to see a little kid smoke on stage. I’ll always remember his unforgettable interpretation of “Funky Broadway.” Anyway it’s nice to catch up w/ him on this video.
P.S. Any decent soundman knows that the cure for squealing is to turn the reverb up to 8 or 9 and have the performer sing in a hushed whisper.

Maybe the soundman was a little crabby, but maybe he had good reason. Maybe he got tired of drummers like “Artie” who spilled beer all over the mic cables, maybe he got tired of people saying “two” over and over into the mic. MUSICIANS: STOP SAYING “TWO” INTO THE MIC!!!!

I have nothing but positive things to say about Jon, the sound guy. What a thrill to work with him and what a thrill to hear the comments of people who have actually seen me perform!
